Lakeland, Florida—The Aerospace Center for Excellence and Air Race Classic will host a girls STEM aviation education event on June 18, 2022 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. This event is completely free and open to students between the ages of eleven and seventeen who register online. There are only sixty available spots.
The event will be held at the ACE Ramus Skylab Innovation Center which is located at 4075 James C. Ray Dr. Lakeland, Florida 33811.
Students will meet 2022 Air Race Classic participants who are set to compete in the upcoming four-day, 2,500-mile, cross-country race. Students will also enjoy a scavenger hunt inside the Florida Air Museum, drones and Redbird Flight Simulator demonstrations, and “Science on a Sphere” presentations which feature real-time global weather tracking.
“The Lady Aces,” also known as team #33, is comprised of ACE Scholarship Director and Pilot Richele Floyd, Kaitlin Conway (student pilot), and Jensen Dix, a member of the Lakeland Aero Club who will work as the student pilot navigator. Team #38, “The Red Eagles,” represents Polk State College with pilots Autumn Richarz and Emma Othmer.
