The Spirit of Lakeland

To help shed titles like paraplegic and quadriplegic and join the .2% of Americans and less than 1/100th of a percent of humans with the title Pilot, the Aerospace Center for Excellence (ACE) and Able Flight are teaming up to engage, educate and accelerate a whole new class of pilots.

ACE will be the 3rd Able Flight training location & the 1st in the Southeast

High school students at our Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA), are building an adaptable plane from the ground up!

Under construction: A new Zenith 750, with much of the work being done by students at CFAA, the on airport aviation high school that is a component of ACE. Working under the guidance of Andy Ovans, Aircraft Maintenance Manager for ACE, and with assistance from other ACE staff, the students have been busy assembling the Zenith kit that will be operated by the Lakeland Aero Club, another component of ACE.
A CFAA student designed the Spirit of Lakeland's movable instrument mount. This mount will allow someone with limited mobility in their legs to move the instrument panel out of the way while he/she enters or exits the aircraft.
The plane modifications that are being made will remove barriers allowing
