The John “Lites” Leenhouts Scholarship is presented to a student whose achievements and ambitions embody the same values and interests that are so meaningful to “Lites” both professionally and recreationally.
The scholarship is open to students seeking a degree in Aviation or Engineering subject areas, preferably in management or another administrative discipline or pursuing advanced ratings towards a piloting career. Students must have successfully completed at least two semesters at an accredited post-secondary institution and be actively engaged in a program supported by the Aerospace Center for Excellence.
Candidates should show leadership potential, demonstrate activity in or a desire to begin flight training, have a record of accomplishments in school/community activities, and have a desire to achieve an upper-level management career. Special consideration will be given to students with FAA certifications or those planning to enter the military.
To apply, please submit a one-page essay describing your career goals and how they reflect “Lites” professional accomplishments, an aviation-related resume, current academic transcripts, photocopies of your logbook reflecting activity within the last 60 days, and two letters of recommendation.
The completed papers will need to be submitted electronically to scholarships@flysnf.org with the word LITES SCHOLARSHIP and the applicant’s name in the subject line. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
